Fervo Energy is developing advanced geothermal energy production technology that will unlock a previously inaccessible resource for load-following carbon-free power. Part of the Company’s approach is to leverage the billions of R&D investments from both upstream and downstream E&P into geothermal development. Fervo is leveraging newly developed reservoir and geotechnical modeling software as well as advanced horizontal drilling, sophisticated well stimulation (including proppants to maximize flow), and patented techniques to block breakthroughs (where certain fracture systems enable too much flow and the working fluid cannot pick up enough heat during the transit from injection to production wells) that would otherwise reduce the productivity of new wells.
